Cheesy...and effective!

Okay, when I received this workbook and the text it accompanies, I thought they were the cheesiest books I had ever seen. This learning program claims to teach you Spanish using a soap opera. Thing is -- it actually works! And it's interesting (well, the soap opera itself is a little cheesy, b/c they all are). When I think back to the bone-numbing drudgery of high school Spanish...how I wish we could have had a learning program like this!
I made my way through this workbook (with the accompanying text) without an instructor, and I still managed to learn a great deal. This is a super approach.

... bought a used Destinos text book and it was perfect for my needs

I bought a used Destinos text book and it was perfect for my needs, However, The used workbook study guide was not usable if you do not have the CD that takes you on a journey using the language, you cannot answer the questions in the workbook. I suggest buying the newer editions and make sure you get a cd if you purchase a used book and or workbook.

is a good way to learn spanish at home

Watching the Destino video, with this workbook as back up, is a good way to learn spanish at home. (Of course, its best also to find a friend(s) who you can converse with in Spanish). Destino is actually an interesting story, so it makes reading the workbook more interesting. The creators of the workbook have also avoided many of the mistakes of Spanish texts, including boring exercises, and using examples that are un-interesting. I guess what I mean is that being a sidekick to the telenovella, learning Spanish with the workbook becomes more personal. Roy Krausen
