Highly recommend. Thrilling read.

I was fortunate to be asked to beta read the third instalment of Nature's Destiny Guardian's Dynasty by the author Miss Justine Winter (My best friend).
I was honoured to be granted with this, but I am ashamed to say i never made the beta read completion date due to life and work commitments. Anyway Justine was very understanding about this lapse of mine and told me to enjoy the book anyway.

What can I say? It was a PHENOMENAL read, I didn't want to put the book down (unfortunately I had to at times, duty called :-)) It was gripping from start to finish and some of the plot lines in it, kept on surprising me throughout the book (bar one, which I won't spoil for anybody.).

I like the way Justine manages to keep the storyline rolling at an amazing pace, so much so, that it just flows from line to line, page to page and chapter to chapter (Probably why I found it so hard to put down.) She has such a fluid way of writing and the Character's personalities REALLY shine through and take you on their journey with them.

My favourite character has to be Lara, for me she is just so understated and not too 'in your face' type of person, she is so selfless and unassuming, the way she puts all others before herself and the thing she wants the most in life, In love. I think maybe she shines out for me because she hasn't got to have the limelight and she's always there in the background waiting to help those she loves. (It's a shame Luna doesn't have a few flaws at times I feel she's too perfect).

I HIGHLY recommend you read this book, in fact all three, you won't be disappointed. Especially if you like Werewolves, action and a few steamy scenes to boot. Not usually what I would go for, but I LOVE them.

Holy Crap on a Cracker Batman!

I'm not sure I know what to say right now! I am devastated, because SERIOUSLY YOU KILLED OFF TWO CHARACTERS!!!!! I mean, I knew it was coming, but NOT THEM!!!! LOL Ok, now that I've expressed my devastation, I need to say THIS IS THE BEST ONE YET! Seriously, the writing has been flawless from the start, but damn if the story line does not impress me more each time I read! This series has become a die hard must have for me. I to this day THANK HEATHER HILDENBRAND for emailing me one day and asking me if I'd help out a fellow author. That email gave me book one, and I can't say enough how much this series is full of AWESOME!! So with that, I will say this book deserves one word-- MAGNIFICENT!! Oh and a second word.... FREAKING DRAGONS!!! ok that was three LOL

I totally thought Luna was gunna die at the beginning of the book. This leads to happy moments, followed by weird explanations, then tears, then being pissed, then more tears, then the HOLY S*** moment! Ok, so there I told you about the book HAHAHAHAHA You see, I already know not to touch these books unless I can read them through. I'm a fast reader, but I won't put them down. I definitely couldn't put this one down. Each character has grown so much in my book, and now, with Sky's little twist, Lara, Kate, and Queen vamper throwing down some heavy duty crazy, it's just getting to be amazing! There's never a moment when I think of anything else when I read this one. I was too immersed.

I can't talk about things right now, because I WILL NOT spoil things for you. I now understand why Ms Justine said she was anxious for me to read this one. I wanna say bad words and I need revenge. And then I need a tissue. Seriously, these characters will feel like your best friends. Luna is turning into a MAJOR BAD ASS, Riley is everything you could ever want and more, and the pack, I LOVE THEM! I need to spoil one thing. I am SO MAD that THAT dress got ruined, you hear me!! And the new additions, I will not talk about them just yet, but I LOVE them. They amaze me, and the descriptions and mannerisms were just so cool!

So with that, I say-- If you are a fan of good writing, a fantastic story line, wonderful werewolves, manipulative vampers, crazy demons, sexy dudes, and an all around wonderful PARANORMAL ROMANCE- just do yourself a favor and read this series! I mean, there's not enough words I can say about how much I love this series. And there's not enough PAWS to tell you how awesome this is. LIKE 10!! But I can only rate up to 5 PAWS, so fine, I will say 2 x 5 PAWS :) Yep, it's that good. I am still sitting with my jaw on the floor! GO NOW AND GET IT!!!

Descriptive and imaginative

In Guardian’s Dynasty it’s another change for Luna as she and Riley must both decide if they are ready for the commitment of being true mates. A wolf mating is life long and irreversible but Luna is concerned the death sentence hanging over her will influence Riley’s decision. The only way to cancel out the threat is for Luna to mate with her one true love. It’s obvious to everyone else, though that Luna and Riley are meant for each other. To save Luna, she and Riley can’t afford to wait for the mating ritual ceremony to be organised so the second option has to be taken immediately.

Luna is now the female alpha and there must be a wedding party for the pack to acknowledge the mating. Which is when the trouble starts, beginning with the appearance of sink holes and the approaching Blood Moon, when the demons, according to legend, will take over the world.

As the wedding guests, including Luna’s parents and best friend, Sky are enjoying the celebrations Luna’s warning pains begin…and before anyone realises what is happening they are surrounded by incubi and Luna has gone…and things will never be the same for Sky.

Another full on instalment in the lives of Luna, Riley and the pack. There’s never a dull moment, lots of action, changes and romance. Luna is dealing with her newly acquired powers well and learning how to use them, finding out who she really is and her destiny. Justine Winter’s writing is very descriptive and imaginative and I love the cover art for the books, this one especially.

This book is for you if you are new to Apache Camel

"Apache Camel Message Routing" is a new book (see [...] published on August, 26th, 2013 by PACKT PUBLISHING (ISBN: 978-1783283477). Author is Bilgin Ibryam. As it's subtitle says, the book describes how to "route, transform, split, multicast messages, and do much more with [Apache] Camel".

Apache Camel is the best integration framework "on the market". It has very good domain specific languages, many connectors, different companies behind it, and an awesome worldwide open source community. So, seeing a new book about Apache Camel is always good news!

Content

First of all, the book has only 50 pages. So it does not contain that much content. It offers a short introduction to Apache Camel. Afterwards, it explains several Enterprise Integration Patterns such as Splitter, Aggregator or Content-based Router, and how to implement these patterns with Apache Camel. The book uses nice screenshots and offers step-by-step explanations in each section. You can also download the source code examples for getting started quickly.

Conclusion

Good news:

- Finally, a new Apache Camel book
- Easy to read
- Good examples
- Good starting point for newbies

Bad news:

- Just 50 pages. Just for getting started. Therefore, very expensive.
- You can find all information of this book on Camel's website for free (though, newbies might not find all this information easily by searching the website)
- "Camel in Action" is also available. That's another awesome Apache Camel book, which also explains all basics, but also many many more details (500 pages)
- If you already know Apache Camel, you do NOT need this book

Excellent starting book

Ok, it's a 49 pages book (62 if you count them all), but if you need to start dealing with Apache Camel and you are a new about Message Routing, you probably need this book.
An entire book about Apache Camel may result too big and confusing (for newbie).

It starts from scratch, it is easy to read, focused, it has good examples and code.

Why 5 stars?
The book only deals with messaging integration system and it does it very well.
But remember Apache Camel implements enterprise integration patterns... it is a huge "thing".

For anyone seriously interested in learning about Chinese medicine, Beinfield and Korngold provide a comprehensive, though technical, look at it. The book is divided into three parts: theory; the psychology of Chinese medicine and therapy; and such treatment methods as acupuncture, herbs and diet. Licensed acupunturists, Beinfield and Korngold stress that the models of Eastern and Western medicine are significantly different. Consequently, so are methods, emphases and outcomes. Chinese medicine, they claim, readjusts the body's balance and enhances self-healing--while Western medicine, in contrast, stresses suppressing and eliminating pathological phenomena, and crisis-intervention. The authors don't discount the need, in some instances, for Western medicine. In fact, they bring this issue up poignantly with an event close to home: their son was born with a heart deformity that required specialized surgery. To help maintain his health, his parents incorporated herbal remedies in his diet. A particularly interesting concept is "culinary alchemy" or kitchen medicine, based on the Chinese tenet "Who we are determines what is most beneficial for us to eat." Well written and engaging but not worth your time

This book is... incomplete. I had hoped for a more thorough exploration of the Traditional Chinese Medicine systems I learned in Massage Therapy school, where we learned the basics of acupressure and some herbs. Thiis book is highly westernized and leaves out a great deal. To give you an idea it doesn't even include a map of the meridians, and makes no mention of some of them.

Interesting book for someone wanting to learn more about eastern medicine! A+. Would recommend getting in regular book form.

This book surprised me. I'm a nurse in the U.S. and from what I've read in this book, I don't know why we don't use more and more eastern medicine. I can't wait to learn more about it, this book was a great beginner book for someone interested in eastern medicine. I can't wait to learn more. Great book. I got it in Kindke edition, but will also be ordering the regular book also bc of the great recipes at the back of book, reference to herbal formulas, and just overall note taking/highlights of the book. YES there is that much good stuff in here, wonderful beginning to learning more!

A Clear Presentation

This is the most involved and lucid explanation of the Five Phases that I have found. I refer many of my patients to this book when they come for their initial session. It has numerous drawings, charts and graphs to support the written text. The Five Phase Theory, as presented in this book, can assist practicing acupunturists or students of Oriental Medicine in deepening their understanding of how to successfully handle the myriad problems and dis-eases presented by their patients. In my 25 years of practice I found extremely few books so well written and organized for everyday use and review.

Woolverton, founder and director of the Village Institute for Psychotherapy, has worked with addicts for 25 years. About the Author
Susan Shapiro became addicted to her shrink—Dr. Woolverton—when he helped her quit twenty-seven-year smoking and drinking habits and start writing successfully. Worth hooking into

If addiction affects your life, or that of someone close to you, _Unhooked_is a great resource to hook into. With its captivating case studies, the book reads like a novel; with its clinical rationales, insights, and guidelines, it informs like a documentary.

The author--a clinical psychologist and a recovered addict himself--presents a coherent synopsis of the factors underlying addictions and the approaches most effective in treating them. Reading through the book, I was continually struck by how well the author conveyed this wealth of information. Here's just a small sampling demonstrating his ability to effectively communicate overarching principles of addiction etiology and treatment:

Addictions are more about avoiding pain than about seeking pleasure:
***Often addictions bring no joy or amusement to the user whatsoever. Instead they take away intolerable pain, depression, and anxiety, and replace it with a numbness, or uneasy equilibrium that make mere survival seem possible. Substances often function as self-medication for an addict's usually undiagnosed distress. (p.63)
***Substances succeed in self-medicating only for short periods of time. A common misconception about addicts is that they are hedonistic pleasure seekers. This is not the case. Most addicts do not use to seek pleasure. They are people out to avoid terrible pain. They use not for fun, but often just to feel okay and get through the day. (p.113)

Substances serve as human stand-ins:
***Addicts often have an infantile need for the attention and safety they never felt from their parents. They have turned to their substances as a stand-in for soothing. So when they quit a substance dependency, they revert back to the age they were when they started using. A young and palpable hunger for love comes out. (pp.88-89)
***Many addicts were disappointed by adults early on and thus had no confidence that they were being protected. Since their own internal voices failed to reassure them or make them feel secure, they turned to substances to manage bad feelings. (p. 59)
***Many people with substance problems feel empty because they have not been nurtured or fed well at home. They yearn to feel love and cared for. Deep down, that's what they're really after. (p.82)
It's a paradox not uncommon to addicts who crave closeness but often give up on people in favor of substances, which are less likely to cause disappointment and are much easier to control. (p.121)

Addictions become barricades:
***Addictions inhibit emotional intensity, artistic urges, and love. They act as blockades, often keeping users from being deeply involved with the people they care about or from becoming as powerfully creative and successful as they could otherwise be. (p.107)
***[Addicts] artificially soothe themselves with a quick hit while stunting their long-term emotional growth and success. They miss opportunities that could lead to expanding experience, understanding, and greater intimacy with others in their world. (p.104)

What ultimately heals:
***Most addicts use substances because they don't want to suffer and hope to avoid feelings of anger, sorrow, pain and discomfort...Living well, even suffering well, are more attainable goals than being happy. (p. 109)
***Along with external changes, it is also essential to get to the inner roots of a substance problem. To stop it, you have to figure out what hurts so much that makes someone need to self-medicate many times daily, often for decades. (p.204)
***A large part of all addicts' recovery involves feeling intense sadness...They have to confront a huge empty space inside. (p.207)
***Once a specific addiction has ceased, if you don't deal directly with the underlying emotional problems that caused it, you'll simply switch addictions. (pp.147-148)
***The point of addiction therapy or AA is to give addicts the language and skills to unravel the rage and confusion brewing beneath their bad habits. (p.206)
***[Addicts] eventually have to transfer [their substance dependency] onto a human being that can be depended on. (p. 206)
***What hurts people most are secrets and lies, and what finally heals is honesty. One has to find a way to live *with* the truth, not fight against it. (p.110)
In order to get and stay happy and healthy, it is necessary to lead the least secretive life that one can. (p. 206)
***You have to start taking care of yourself the way you wish someone else would take care of you. (p. 118)

_Unhooked_ is both a great read and a great resource. It's even a bit difficult to put down at times--quite appropriate for a book on addictions!

A Recovery Classic with Real Clout

If Amy Winehouse and Jimi Hendrix had read Unhooked, they'd likely be with us today. Both authors of this book are intimate with the terror of addiction and the triumph of recovery, so you trust them immediately. Dr. Wooleverton, a former cigarette addict, is the eminent substance abuse shrink who helped author/professor Shapiro quit her 27-year, two-pack a day habit.

Unhooked delivers poignant tales of real people who've recovered from fierce addictions to everything from drugs and sex to tattoos and Facebook. Shapiro is candid about her myriad former crutches: dope, Diet Coke, shopping, shrinks, booze, gum, pills, and cupcakes. And many of the examples recounted here are extreme enough to make your own horrors feel conquerable.

The core theme--that all addictions are coping mechanisms for deeper psychic issues--is deftly documented. And the periodic self-quizzes are effective in helping us learn why we self-medicate. Unhooked's tight, lively writing; its solid, valuable advice; and its powerful, mesmerizing case studies had me hooked throughout.

I read this book because Susan Shaprio was the co-author. I was pretty disappointed. I had bought this book thinking it was more a self-help/reflection type of book. I found this book to be more about the author's case studies and personal achievements with his career and patients, rather than enlightening or inspiring on a personal level. Disappointed.
